Here at Stif we're huge fans of Sweet Protection and in particular the Bushwhacker II helmet. Chances are if you catch a Stif Staffer, or team rider out on the trail they'll be wearing this exact lid. It's not like we haven't got plenty to choose from either, but, the Bushwhacker just ticks every box. The Bushwhacker utilises a unique in-mold five-piece shell structure construction. In the real world this means the helmets outer shell is made using 5 different panels which are strategically placed to deal with different types of impacts. Each one of the five pieces is uniquely tuned to its specific destination in order to deal with the most common types of impacts in that certain area of the helmet. The carbon version also sees sections of carbon fibre introduced into extra critical areas. As well as looking sick due to the carbon’s high strength and impact distribution properties this boosts protection by whopping 15%! 

Beneath the 5-piece shell lies an advanced variable EPS liner, with bridge and channel volume. This again is totally designed to increase overall impact protection regardless of the crash whilst keeping the weight low.  

Internally the Bushwhacker utilises STACC ventilation – standing for ‘Superficial Temporal Artery Cooling Channel’. This works by having efficient front vents which drag cool air through internal channels, these channels specifically target and cool the temple arteries before exhausting hot air through vents at the rear. STACC venting is super effective and you can actually feel it working as you ride down the trail!
