The Orange Five is synonymous with the Orange brand, a masterpiece of evolution and progression. Over ten years and countless nights have been spent thinking about tweaks and refinements to keep it at the forefront of the trail-riding scene. The newest version continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible, and a few choice additions compliment other developments in the industry. The 2011 Orange Five stays true to its roots as a low slung, fast handling trail whippet which can play gently in the Dales or storm a black run. The mix of Monocoque construction and custom butted 6061-T6 Reynolds tubes keep weight down with a new tapered headtube adding stiffness. A 30.9 mm seat-tube adds compatibility for more ‘dropper’ seat-posts and we’ve added ISCG mounts for securely fitting a chain device. The same single pivot position continues to keep the suspension balanced between sensitivity and efficiency with the bearing system promoting stiffness and reliability. The Orange Five has already become a classic, and it just got better.

Orange Mountain Bikes based in Halifax, West Yorkshire in the UK. Orange produce a wide range of mountain bikes, ranging from the full-suspension downhill Orange 224 to the steel hardtail Orange P7pure. Orange's original hardtail was the Clockwork, named after the film. Orange Mountain Bikes sponsored riders have held the downhill world championship in 2001 (Greg Minnaar), 2002 and 2004 (Steve Peat), as well as the women's under 21 downhill world championship (Tracey Hannah in 2006).
Entry and mid-level Orange bikes are built in Taiwan, while more expensive models are handbuilt in their Halifax factory.
