January 2018 Round-up
Here’s the first of our new monthly round-up features in which we’ll be picking some of our favourite things that have landed in the shop this month.
Fiveten Freerider Impact Pro
A new year means new gear and for 2018 FiveTen were quickest out of the gate with their brand-new Impact Pro shoe. Aimed at those of us who love to go big, the Impact Pro pairs the fantastic S1 rubber with great durability and protection.
One of our favourite features is the new approach to laying out the S1 tread pattern. The tread is now tailored to each size of shoe, so it performs exactly as it was designed to, regardless of the size of your feet. A Polyurethane midsole absorbs the bigger hits and returns to form quicker than previous EVA midsoles, but at 30% thinner than previous midsoles it doesn’t dampen pedal feedback so you always feel in control. Poron Foam protects your toes from rocks and trailside tree stumps and the synthetic outer will brush off scrapes and is easy to clean.
Available in Black/Gold and Black/Camo instore and online
The dirtsuit, from German manufactures Dirtlej certainly raised a few eyebrows when it landed. There’s no getting away from the fact that it’s a bright green onesie, but as soon as you try one on, it just makes perfect sense. Weatherproof and breathable, this has to be the perfect getup for bike park laps, uplift days or enduro races. We reckon all you need is a merino jersey base-layer underneath and you’re good to go whatever the weather. What’s more, when you tot up the cost of a decent pair of durable and weatherproof shorts and a riding jacket, the dirtsuit comes out looking like a bargain.
Zipped & mesh air vents allow more or less airflow as required, the adjustable waistband is as good as any we’ve seen, there’s enough pocket space for essentials and the stow-away hood fits over a helmet when the weather takes a turn for the worse, as it often does in our neck of the woods. We reckon you’ll start to see these popping up all over the trails this year.
Aaron Gwin & Brandon Semenuk Signature Goggles from Smith
We’ve long been fans of the Smith Squad goggles. If you follow us on any of our social media channels you’ll have gotten ahead of the curve on our latest drop, but just in case you’ve missed it, we’ve managed to get our hands on some of Aaron Gwin and Brandon Semenuks’ limited edition signature lines of the Squad goggles.
The Squad goggle won the ‘best in test’ goggle in the most recent issue of MBUK, was featured in the Dirt 100 and consistently receives high-scoring reviews, they are the go-to goggle for all of us too.
Featuring sick colourways and a semi-hard case, as well as the Chromapop technology we love, The Athlete Collection goggles are available online and instore.
We’ve also got a very limited run of the Squad Goggles in Black with Rose Chromapop lens, available while stocks last for £49.99, but if you’re tempted be quick, these are flying out the door.
Fresh Drop of Juliana Goods
Juliana Bikes treated us to a fresh drop of streetwear, riding essentials and… kitchenwear! We’ve got 2 new beanies, a new crew neck fleece, a hoody, Camelbak water bottles and the ever-popular can-shaped glass has had a make-over and now sports the Juliana logo. There’s the classic tall drinking glass too, perfect for a long drink or a cold beer after a ride.
Burgtec Direct Mount Stem MkIII
This might have actually come to us in December, but it’s too cool to leave out. The MkIII Direct Mount stem from the guys at Burgtec comes in 5 anodized colours and looks amazing. Re-designed to cope with bigger hits, hucks and drops, the MkIII is stronger than ever, comes with 31.8mm or 35mm clamp in 50 or 60mm lengths.
We’re now stocking a wide range of spares for Pinion Gearboxes. Have a look at the Pinion page on our website or give us a call if you need a spare part for your gearbox.
Huge Savings on Sweet Protection
We’ve been fans of Sweet Protection for a long time now. The Scandinavians seem to know a thing or two about design and that certainly shows in the Sweet Protection range. Great looks and functionality come as standard. We’ve got huge discounts on gloves, shorts and merino jerseys while stock last.
We can’t say enough good things about the Hunter Shorts, whether you’re flowing through the Alps, sliding through the welsh valleys in sideways rain or climbing miles of singletrack up t’dales, the Hunter is all you’ll need. We love the long cut, deep pockets, zipped vents and great fit. We’re certain you’ll love all that too, as well as 40% off.
The Badlands Jersey is 100% merino wool, natures’ miracle fabric. Keeping you warm when it’s cold and cold when it’s warm and wicking and evaporating sweat no matter how hard you push. Merino jerseys work great as a baselayer, under a jersey or a jacket, or even on their own in summer. Once you’ve tried them you’ll love them. It’s cropped up in conversation that some of us even sleep in them. There’s 40% off these too, get them while you can!
That’s all for now, see you next time in February when we’ll hopefully have plenty more exciting new stuff from the likes of FiveTen, Fox, Focus and a few more.
